Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg
Magdeburg is a city in Sachsen-Anhalt, a federal state in Germany, on the Elbe River and covers an area of 201 km² and had in 2016 a population of 235,723.
The only university there is the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and was founded in 1933. Thus it is one of the youngest universities in Germany with about 14.000 people in nine different faculties. Also, they published 11,700 papers in international journals from this institute.
Their main focus of expertise is in the traditional areas of engineering, the natural sciences and medicine since Otto von Guericke was a physicist and investor but also a politician and jurist. It also views economics and management and the social sciences and humanities as essential disciplines for a modern university in the information age. Degrees you can gain are the bachelor, the master, Human Medicine Degrees, Teaching Degrees, Doctoral Degrees.
As an international student, you also have the opportunity to study in English.
The university itself has got two libraries in the near of different faculties. The first one is in the near the main building and the seconds one right next to the faculty for computer science. The main library closes at 9 o‘clock, so most of the students prefer to go to the library next to the computer science faculty, which closes at 11 o‘clock. But still, there is every subject represented in English as well in German.
But not just the university is perfect for studying also the city is perfect for students.
There are lots of cosy cafes and shops where you can cover your needs since everything is affordable.
Also, the atmosphere of the city is perfect for students because it is calm. Furthermore, there are often appealing exhibitions.
