Trip to Magdeburg
Hi guys,
as you all probably know we just had vacations again in Berlin. But unfortunately just for one week. While this I visited Magdeburg (a city in Sachsen-Anhalt, a federal state in Germany) with my family.
So, on the 9th of January 2019 at 6 pm we left Berlin and drove to Magdeburg which took us about 2 hours. For the trip, we extra booked a seven-seater car. When we reached the Best Western Hotel am Geheimen Rat in the Centre of Magdeburg we first wanted to check-in. Unfortunately, we had made a mistake while booking and had just booked 2 double bedrooms for 3 persons instead of booking for 5 persons. However, that was not such a big deal because my youngest sister was free so we just had to pay extra for one person.
After that little shock went to our rooms and figured out that you couldn’t look one of the room doors. So Dad and I went down to the reception and informed her about that problem and asked her for an additional pillow and bed-cover. After that, we bought all our bags in the rooms and eat Biryani (an Indian rice dish). After that, we drove around the city and found the faculty for computer science and right next to it the library of the University. The front wall was made of glass and you could see all the books on shelves and students studying. It was really amazing. Just imagine you love books and then see such a huge library!
Soon we went back to the hotel and my sisters and I stayed in one room and my parents in one. Being excited to see Magdeburg in the daytime we all fall asleep at midnight.
In the morning everybody took a shower to get ready for breakfast and packed up their things because we had to check out at 11 am. While I was just wondering how the breakfast buffet will look like and what I would like to eat.
So we went to the breakfast room and I was totally blown away. There were much more things than I was able to eat in the whole day. But first dad and I searched for a table and waited there till mom and my sisters had gotten something to eat. After that, we both got us something and started eating. I first took salmon because I love fish!
After such a delicious breakfast we went back to our rooms and had a rest for about an hour. Then we picked up all our things and check out. I sat in the back and listened to music while we again drove around in Magdeburg and looked at all of the sights. When we reached the Centre we parked the car to walk around and to take pictures of buildings in Romanesque style and obviously of the green citadel. The citadel looked funny because it was actually pink and not green.
After that, we decided that we wanted to see the library we saw the day before in the night again and drove to the faculty for computer science.
When we went inside the lady at the reception asked us why we wanted to see the library. Then dad and I explained that I want to go to University after my A-levels (which are called in Germany the Abitur). So she gave us a bit free consultancy about admission and what fees you have to pay in Magdeburg. It‘s just 90€ but the university doesn’t pay the card for public transport which is included in the fees for the technical university.
However, after the consultancy, we went up to the Computer science sector of the library. When my little sister was tired of looking at books (for her they were all on Spanish) we went back to our car and drove to the river in Magdeburg and eat Chana chaat (again an Indian dish) and pizza buns.
After that, we saw a café called Cafe del Sol. Since we were driving through Magdeburg all day we saw it a couple a times before and decided to try it out. There we tried fries and drank Expresso and cocoa and it was delicious! When we checked the time we realised that it was already 3 pm and we had to leave for Berlin. Soon we reached Berlin but finally relaxed and fit for school!
If you live in Germany or even in another country and never been to Magdeburg I can just recommend changing that as soon as possible.
If you visited Magdeburg already please tell me whether you liked it or not!
Bye!
